Do Indians Need Visa and Passports for Sri Lanka?

Yes, Indian citizens need both a valid passport and a visa (or ETA) to travel to Sri Lanka. Until March 31, 2025, Sri Lanka has implemented a visa-free regime for nationals of several countries, including India. While a visa-free entry policy was in place for a limited time, it has ended, and Indians now need to obtain an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) prior to their Sri Lanka trip.


Visa Requirement for Sri Lanka

To visit Sri Lanka, ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months, carry passport-sized photos, and sometimes proof of sufficient funds. Visa Price Starting at ₹4200 for 30 days with double entry, you can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) online, or alternatively. Also, you can apply Visa at the Sri Lankan embassy. Day 1 (Arrive Kandy Airport)

On the first day of Viacation’s Sri Lanka Tour Package, you’ll arrive at Colombo International Airport where you’ll meet our representative and a designated guide from Viacation. Then you’ll be escorted to your hotel in Bentota. Enroute, you’ll visit

  1. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage: Open - 8:30 am to 5:45 pm, Elephants Bath Time: 10 am - 4 pm
  2. Visit Spice Garden: Sri Lanka is famous for its spices, and healing herbs. Many important herbs such as Sandalwood, Margosa, Cocoa, Citronella, Almond, Jasmine, and Coconut are grown here.


On the way if time permits, you can also visit Kandy View Point which is a vantage point that gives visitors the chance to enjoy amazing views of the entire city, the Kandy Lake.
