About Galle Lighthouse

The Galle Fort Lighthouse, located within the historic Galle Fort on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the country. Standing tall against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean, this elegant white structure is the oldest lighthouse in Sri Lanka and continues to guide ships safely into Galle Harbour.


Surrounded by cobbled pathways, colonial buildings, and palm-fringed views, the lighthouse is a perfect spot for photography, sunset watching, and quiet seaside strolls. :There is no entry fee to visit the Galle Fort Lighthouse. Visitors can freely walk around the lighthouse and explore the surrounding fort area. However, climbing the lighthouse is not permitted for the public due to safety regulations.
