About Sri Pada / Adam's Peak

Rising majestically to 2,243 meters, Sri Pada, also known as Adam’s Peak, is one of Sri Lanka’s most revered pilgrimage sites. At its summit lies a sacred footprint-shaped rock formation, believed by Buddhists to be the footprint of the Buddha, by Hindus of Lord Shiva, and by Christians and Muslims of Adam. The trek to the top, often begun before dawn, rewards climbers with a spiritual atmosphere and a breathtaking sunrise over rolling hills and mist-covered valleys. Thousands ascend its 5,000 steps during the pilgrimage season, drawn by faith, legend, and the mountain’s awe-inspiring natural beauty.
