About Durpin View Point

Perched atop Kalimpong's southwestern ridge at 1,372 meters, Durpin View Point offers sweeping vistas of the Teesta and Rangeet rivers, the snow-capped Kanchenjunga, and the distant Jelepla Pass. The name "Durpin," meaning "binocular" in Nepali, aptly describes the expansive views from this hill. At its summit stands the serene Zang Dhok Palri Monastery, consecrated by the Dalai Lama in 1976, housing 108 volumes of the sacred Kangyur texts. Nearby, a picturesque army-maintained golf course adds to the locale's charm. Easily accessible by road, Durpin View Point is a harmonious blend of natural beauty, spiritual significance, and colonial heritage.
