About Tashichö Dzong

Tashichö Dzong, located in the capital city of Thimphu, Bhutan, is an impressive fortress-monastery that serves as the seat of the Bhutanese government and houses the throne room and offices of the King. Built in the 17th century and extensively renovated in the 1960s, the dzong showcases traditional Bhutanese architecture with whitewashed walls, intricately carved woodwork, and golden roofs. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and located near the Wang Chhu River, it is also home to the central monastic body during the summer. The serene atmosphere and grand structure make it a must-visit cultural and spiritual landmark in Bhutan.
