Pemayangtse Monastery, located near Pelling in Sikkim, is one of the oldest and most revered monasteries in the region. Founded in the 17th century by Lama Lhatsun Chempo, it belongs to the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery's name means "Perfect Sublime Lotus," reflecting its spiritual significance. It houses exquisite statues, ancient scriptures, and a stunning seven-tiered wooden structure called the Zangdok Palri, representing Guru Padmasambhava’s heavenly abode. Surrounded by scenic Himalayan views, Pemayangtse is a serene retreat for devotees and tourists alike, especially vibrant during the annual Cham dance festival held in the monastery courtyard.
