The National Library & Archives of Bhutan, located in Thimphu, was founded in 1967 under royal patronage to preserve Bhutan’s rich cultural and religious heritage . Housed in a striking four‑storey, octagonal building modeled after a traditional dzong, it holds sacred Buddhist manuscripts, pecha texts, xylographic blocks, and modern publications, with legal deposit in place since 1999 . The adjacent National Archives, established in 2006, safeguards government documents, photographs, microfilms and rare records in climate‑controlled facilities . The library also offers microfilming, digitization, and research services, functioning as Bhutan’s “memory bank” and a vital hub for cultural and scholarly activity

This was my first international trip and Bhutan turned out to be the perfect destination. The itinerary was well-balanced with nature and culture. There were some concerns about permits on day one, but the on-ground support team stepped in and sorted it efficiently. Really appreciate how Viacation took care of every little detail.
