Gagyel Lhundrup Weaving Centre, nestled at the southern end of Thimphu’s Changzamtok district, is a private hub for traditional Bhutanese textile artistry. Established over two decades ago by master weaver Kezang Lhundrup, it employs both in‑house artisans and local home‑based weavers. Visitors can observe the intricate backstrap-loom weaving process—using vibrant silk, cotton, and natural dyes—and admire the skill behind ceremonial gho and kira fabrics, including those made for the royal family. Upstairs, a shop offers scarves, belts, jackets, and home textiles. It operates weekdays from 9 AM to 6 PM and provides an enriching insight into Bhutan’s rich textile heritage.

This was my first international trip and Bhutan turned out to be the perfect destination. The itinerary was well-balanced with nature and culture. There were some concerns about permits on day one, but the on-ground support team stepped in and sorted it efficiently. Really appreciate how Viacation took care of every little detail.
