Unicorn Island, Vietnam

Thoi Son Island, popularly called Unicorn Island, is one of the largest islands in the Mekong Delta region. It sits on the Tien River in My Tho, the capital of Tien Giang Province. Best Time to Visit

Unicorn Island visits are different depending on the season:

1. Fruit Harvest Season (June to August): Orchards are at full yield during these months. Longan, rambutan, and jackfruit are picked fresh off the trees. This is the best time for orchard visits and trying fruit straight from the source.
2. Dry Season (December to April): River conditions stay calm, and canal boat rides are smooth. Cycling through the island interior is comfortable during this period. Paths stay dry, and the weather is easy to manage throughout the day.

How to Reach

Unicorn Island is 70 kilometers south of Ho Chi Minh City via Highway 1. The drive to My Tho takes around 90 minutes by private cab. From My Tho pier, a local boat reaches the island in 10 to 15 minutes. Most day tour operators handle the full transfer from Ho Chi Minh City directly.
