About Saigon Central Post Office, Vietnam

The Saigon Central Post Office, located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is a stunning example of French colonial architecture. Built between 1886 and 1891, this iconic structure was designed by Alfred Foulhoux, though often mistakenly credited to Gustave Eiffel. Its grand facade features arched windows, intricate ironwork, and a central clock that has become a symbol of the city. Inside, the building boasts a beautiful vaulted ceiling, antique telephone booths, and historic maps of Saigon and surrounding areas. Still functioning as a post office today, it remains a popular tourist attraction where visitors can send postcards, admire the classic design, and soak in the old-world charm. The Saigon Central Post Office stands as a cultural and architectural gem, reflecting the city’s colonial past and vibrant present.
