About Presidential Palace, Vietnam

The Presidential Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam, is a grand symbol of French colonial architecture and political history. Built between 1900 and 1906 to house the Governor-General of Indochina, the palace is an elegant mustard-yellow building surrounded by lush gardens, fountains, and stately palm trees. Though it was intended as the official residence for Ho Chi Minh after independence, he declined to live there, choosing instead a modest stilt house nearby. Today, the palace is not open for public entry but can be admired from the outside during guided visits to the grounds. Visitors often explore the surrounding gardens, historic structures, and Ho Chi Minh’s house, gaining insight into the life and legacy of Vietnam’s revered leader. The Presidential Palace stands as a majestic reminder of Vietnam's colonial past and revolutionary journey.
