October to February is the best time. Skies stay clear, and the cloud sea below the cliff appears most mornings. Visit between 5 AM and 7 AM. That is when the sunrise happens, and clouds sit lowest in the valley. After 8 AM, the clouds lift, and the view changes completely.
Nongjrong Village is 87 kilometres from Shillong via Sohra. The drive takes about two hours. Private cabs charge ₹1,800 to ₹2,200 for the full trip. No direct bus runs from Shillong. Start by 3 AM from Shillong to reach the viewpoint before sunrise.
