Malana Tour Packages
Malana, located in Parvati Valley at an altitude of about 2,650 meters, is not a typical hill station but an ancient Himalayan village known for its untouched beauty and strong cultural identity. Surrounded by snow covered peaks like Chandrakhani and Deo Tibba, it offers breathtaking views and complete mountain serenity. Often included in Himachal Pradesh Tour Packages, Malana is famous for its unique customs, its own language Kanashi, and the belief that locals are descendants of Alexander the Great’s army. Certain parts of the village follow strict rules where outsiders must not touch people, homes, or temples, including the sacred Jamlu Devta Temple which can only be viewed from a distance. Visitors trek 3 to 4 km from Malana Gate to reach the village and can enjoy viewpoints like Chandrakhani Pass. The village is also known for Malana Cream, but cannabis is illegal in India and should be strictly avoided.
To reach Malana, travel to Bhuntar or Kasol, then drive to Jari or Malana Gate and trek uphill for 1.5 to 2 hours. The best time to visit is April to June and September to November, while monsoon months should be avoided due to slippery trails. Accommodation is not permitted inside the village, but guesthouses, homestays, and camps are available near the trek base, Jari, and Kasol. Visitors must respect local customs by not touching property, avoiding entry into homes or temples, and seeking permission before photography to ensure a respectful and smooth experience.
