Kibber Tour Packages

Kibber, perched at 14,200 feet in Spiti Valley, is one of the highest permanently inhabited villages in the world and a key highlight in many Spiti Valley Packages. Known for its traditional mud brick houses, dramatic mountain views, and strong Buddhist roots, the village offers an authentic glimpse into Spitian life. The ancient 800 year old Kibber Monastery preserves rich spiritual traditions, while the surrounding landscape makes it a prime location for wildlife enthusiasts hoping to spot snow leopards, Himalayan wolves, blue sheep, and red foxes, especially in winter. Visitors can explore fossil rich terrain that dates back to the Tethys Sea era, enjoy guided walks in Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary, experience warm local hospitality through homestays with butter tea and traditional meals, and witness breathtaking stargazing under crystal clear Himalayan skies.

Kibber is accessible year round, though May to October offers easier travel conditions, and there is no village entry fee while the wildlife sanctuary charges INR 100 per person excluding guide fees. Due to high altitude, acclimatization is essential during the first 24 hours along with proper hydration and basic medication. Accommodation mainly includes homestays and guesthouses ranging from INR 800 to 1500 per night, so advance booking is advisable in peak season. Electricity can be irregular, making power banks useful, heavy woollens are necessary even in summer, and carrying sufficient cash from Kaza is important as there are no ATMs. Connectivity is limited, with BSNL being the most reliable network in the area.
