Barog Tour Packages

Barog, located on the Kalka Shimla highway in Himachal Pradesh, is a quiet hill town known for its misty landscapes, colonial charm, and peaceful atmosphere. Often included in Himachal tour packages as a refreshing stop, it offers a calm escape away from crowded destinations like Shimla or Manali. Surrounded by pine forests and mountain views, Barog is famous for its picturesque railway station on the UNESCO listed Kalka Shimla line and the historic Barog Tunnel No 33, linked to the legend of Colonel Barog. Visitors can also explore the serene Dolanji Bon Monastery, the grave of Colonel Barog set amidst forest surroundings, and Pine Hill Eco Camp for light trekking, camping, and stargazing, making it a blend of nature, history, and subtle mystery.

The best time to visit is March to June for pleasant weather and September to November for misty scenic views, while winters can be quite cold. Barog is about 60 km from Chandigarh and easily accessible by road, toy train from Kalka, or via Solan which is around 10 km away. Light woollens are recommended as evenings can be chilly. Ideal for short getaways and slow travel, Barog offers a soothing mountain experience where visitors can relax, enjoy chai with valley views, and embrace the simplicity of the hills.
