About Warangal Fort

Warangal Fort is located in the city of Warangal, around 140 kilometres from Hyderabad in Telangana. This ancient fort was built in the 13th century by the Kakatiya dynasty and remains one of the most remarkable examples of South Indian architecture. The fort was once the centre of power for the Kakatiya rulers and has stood the test of time, showcasing their love for art, strength, and devotion.

Because of its historical importance and impressive ruins, many travellers include Warangal Fort in their South India tour packages. The fort covers a large area and is known for its unique construction. Although much of it now lies in ruins, what remains still tells powerful stories of a glorious past.

Visitors are often amazed by the grand stone gateways called Kakatiya Kala Thoranams, large pillars and carved structures spread across the site. Surrounded by walls and moats, the fort was built to defend against invasions and was once a symbol of royal strength.
