About Tiranga Memorial

The **Tiranga Memorial**, also known as **Flag Point**, is a significant historical site located in **Port Blair**, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It marks the spot where **Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose** hoisted the Indian national flag on **December 30, 1943**, declaring the islands free from British rule—four years before India’s independence. The memorial features a towering **150-foot flagpole** proudly displaying the tricolor, surrounded by stone structures and informative plaques that narrate the story of India's freedom struggle. Set against a serene coastal backdrop, it offers panoramic views of **Ross Island** and **North Bay**, making it a place of reflection and national pride.
