St. John’s Church, located in McLeod Ganj near Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, is a historic Anglican church built in 1852. Dedicated to John the Baptist, it is renowned for its neo-Gothic architecture and beautiful Belgian stained-glass windows donated by Lady Elgin, wife of Lord Elgin, the British Viceroy of India. Surrounded by towering deodar trees, the church offers a serene and spiritual ambiance. It also houses the tomb of Lord Elgin in its churchyard. Despite surviving the 1905 Kangra earthquake, the church retains much of its original charm, making it a significant landmark and a peaceful retreat for visitors.
