About Nohkalikai Waterfall, Meghalaya

Nohkalikai Waterfall, located near Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, is India’s tallest plunge waterfall, dropping from a height of 340 meters (1,115 feet). Surrounded by lush greenery and mist-covered cliffs, the waterfall offers a breathtaking sight, especially during the monsoon season when it flows in full force. The name “Nohkalikai” means “the leap of Ka Likai” and is rooted in a tragic local legend, adding a sense of mystery and emotion to the natural wonder. A turquoise pool forms at its base, contrasting beautifully with the rocky landscape. Easily accessible via a short trek and viewpoint, it is a must-visit for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure seekers. Nohkalikai not only showcases the raw beauty of Meghalaya but also its deep cultural stories and natural diversity.
