About Napier Museum

The Napier Museum, situated in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is a renowned art and natural history museum established in 1857. Named after Lord Napier, the then Governor of Madras, the museum is celebrated for its Indo-Saracenic architecture, blending Gothic, Mughal, Chinese, and Kerala styles, featuring stained glass windows and natural ventilation. Its extensive collection includes over 550 artifacts such as bronze idols, ivory carvings, ancient ornaments, and a temple chariot. Notable exhibits include an 8th-century Vishnu idol and the sword of Velu Thampi Dalawa. The museum complex also houses the Trivandrum Zoo and Sree Chitra Art Gallery, making it a cultural hub in the city
