About Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple

The Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple, located in Alappuzha, Kerala, is a stunning example of traditional Kerala temple architecture. This ancient temple, dedicated to Goddess Rajarajeswari, stands out with its unique two-storied structure and detailed wooden carvings of Hindu mythology. What makes this temple unique is the presence of the goddess in three forms - morning as Goddess Parvathi, noon as Goddess Lakshmi, and evening as Goddess Saraswathi.

The temple has been a spiritual hub for locals and tourists for centuries. During the annual 10-day festival in March-April, the temple comes alive with traditional music, colorful processions, and elephant parades. Very few Kerala Tour Packages include this temple in their itinerary, especially during festival times, this temple is a must-visit. An interesting fact about the Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple is that it once served as a safe for people during the great flood of 1924, earning it the nickname “Temple of Refuge” among locals.
