Located near the Indo-Tibetan border, the last village of Spiti Valley, Chitkul or Gete (depending on the route), is a hidden gem in the Himalayas that is always included in all Spiti Valley Packages. It is the last inhabited settlement on the Indian side of the Indo-China Border. Rich in history, these villages were once important stops on ancient trade routes connecting India and Tibet. Even today, their untouched beauty, traditional wooden houses, and fluttering prayer flags reflect their deep-rooted cultural past.
At an altitude of over 14,000 feet, the air here is thin, and winter temperatures drop well below freezing, making it a challenging destination. Electricity and phone networks are often unreliable, so it gives you a true escape from modern life. The people of this village are mostly Tibetan Buddhists. This village is an unforgettable experience for those willing to brave its remote and rugged terrain.
There are no fixed timings to visit the last village of Spiti Valley, as it is a residential area. However, the best months to visit are from May to October, avoiding monsoon time. There is no entry fee. Winters make access difficult due to heavy snowfall.

Great Trip. Very Adventurous indeed. Sent that postcard from Hikkim to my grandmother who has always wanted to travel but couldn't. She called me crying. That one small thing made me emotional the whole evening. The package was great but that moment is what I'll carry forever. Thank you Viacation.

Being from Sikkim I thought I knew cold. Spiti in winter is another level completely. What I loved was how untouched everything felt. No crowds at any of the monasteries, no noise in Kibber, just snow and silence everywhere. Viacation planned this beautifully.
