About Komic Village

Komic is one of the world’s highest villages. It is situated at a height of 4,587 meters. Despite its height, it can be reached easily. The roads are well-connected to other roads. You can ride these roads with your personal bike or a rented bike. It is located about 19-20 km from Kaza and is a town in the Spiti Valley.

The village is covered with green grass and the deserted mountains. The beauty here is everywhere, but people are very rare. Do you like being alone and searching for some peaceful places? Then you must stop your bike here and take a photo with a tourist famous signboard. If you are not going by yourself and want some help, then explore Spiti tour packages.

Significance of Komic Village

Komic Village started gaining attention when road trips in Spiti Valley became popular among bikers and adventure travellers. Its identity as one of the world’s most motorable villages made it widely discussed in travel blogs, videos, and photography routes.

Tourist visits increased gradually after better road connectivity reached nearby areas like Kaza. Travellers began including Komic along with Hikkim and Langza because all three villages could be covered on the same mountain route. The village later became known for its high-altitude setting, monastery, and remote Himalayan landscape.

Best Time to Visit

Road access usually stays open from mid-May to October. Visit during the daytime between 9 AM and 4 PM for clearer conditions. Winters bring heavy snowfall, blocked roads, and temperatures dropping below -15°C.

How to Reach Komic Village

A drive of around 24 km from Kaza takes 1 to 1.5 hours through NH505. Private taxis and rented bikes are the most common transport options for reaching the village. Private taxis can cost you ₹2k to ₹4k; if you go with a share taxi, it can cost ₹800 to ₹1,200 per person.

Being from Sikkim I thought I knew cold. Spiti in winter is another level completely. What I loved was how untouched everything felt. No crowds at any of the monasteries, no noise in Kibber, just snow...
