About Atashgah Zoroastrian Fire Temple

The Ateshgah of Baku, or Fire Temple, is a mesmerising relic where history, faith, and legend intertwine. Hidden in Surakhani’s quiet outskirts, this centuries-old sanctuary radiates mystique and spiritual energy. Built in a pentagonal shape around a sacred altar, it once held a naturally burning, eternal flame fueled by underground gas.

For generations, Zoroastrians, Hindus, and Sikhs travelled here to honour the sacred fire they believed divine. Though the natural flame has vanished, a restored one still dances gracefully, keeping its ageless aura alive. Visiting Ateshgah isn’t just sightseeing, it’s stepping into a timeless story etched in fire and stone. Most Baku tour packages include this mystical site, but its powerful silence will make you wish to stay longer.
